Aga Khan Museum

The new Aga Khan Museum is a showcase for Islamic art and artifacts as well as a cultural and educational center devoted to the study and practice of human pluralism. The crown jewel of the Museum is its stunning 350-seat recital hall – its interior dome inspired by Islamic geometries. Teak latticework panels pay homage to the ancestral art of the mashrabiya while concealing adjustable acoustic draperies. Priority was given to a design that is appropriate for acoustic music with secondary uses for amplified music, lectures and film presentations.
