University of Hartford: Handel Performing Arts Center

This vibrant center for performing arts education is housed in a collection of rehabilitated industrial buildings designed by architect Albert Kahn in 1929. The renovation preserved the complex’s unique exterior character while the interior addressed The Hartt School’s need for additional classrooms, rehearsal spaces and performance venues to accommodate its burgeoning enrollment. In addition to two experimental theatres, the facility provides studios for the School’s dance, theatre and vocal programs as well as artistic and production offices.
