Robert Long

About

Robert began his theatre consulting career in the office of George C. Izenour in New Haven, Connecticut. Following that, he spent two years as a theatre planner with Artec Consultants in New York. Robert was the first American consultant employed by Theatre Projects Consultants and worked on numerous projects during his twenty-one year association with that firm. He received his BFA degree in technical theatre from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his MFA degree from the Yale School of Drama. Robert is a Fellow and former three-term president of the American Society of Theatre Consultants.

Curtis Kasefang

Curtis has designed, equipped and operated performance spaces throughout North America for more than 25 years. Prior to co-founding TCC, he set up and ran the lighting and sound departments at Theatre Projects Consultants’ U.S. office. He was a technical director and the facility manager for the State University of New York’s Performing Arts Center at Purchase and production manager for an international performing arts festival. Trained as a lighting designer, Curtis holds a BFA in theatre technology from SUNY Purchase and has had additional training in organizational management and information technology. He is the former chair of the Raleigh Historic Districts Commission. His favorite projects are ones that bring his passion for preservation together with his love of designing intimate and adaptable performance spaces.

Cy has 35 years of experience in the planning, design and construction supervision of performing arts buildings throughout Canada, the United States, Latin America and Asia. He was a member of the design department at Theatre Projects Consultants for twelve years prior to joining TCC. He earned both a Bachelor of Environmental Studies and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Waterloo, Ontario. He is a member of the Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology.

A graduate of the University of Toronto’s School of Architecture, Athos has a knack for articulating design concepts that effectively integrate the client’s vision with the project’s technical requisites. He developed his passion for designing performing arts facilities in the early ‘90s while at Lett/Smith Architects and subsequently spent four years as a designer with Theatre Projects Consultants before joining TCC at its inception. He is a registered member of the Ontario Association of Architects and a member of the Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology.

Paul Sanow

Paul has more than 30 years of experience in the theatre construction and design industries, serving as a field service technician, a project manager, a technical sales specialist, and a theatre consultant. This experience is key to his understanding of systems, design, and processes. He joined TCC in 2016 following his eight years as a theatre consultant with Bill Conner Associates. He earned a BFA from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. He is a member of the American Society of Theatre Consultants.

Tom Kostusiak

Tom has been involved in the design and planning of performing arts facilities for over thirty years. He is the former production manager of the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall, Buffalo State College, where he also taught courses in sound recording and reinforcement as well as lighting design. Tom consulted with TCC on a project-by-project basis, lending his invaluable expertise in performance sound system design, before joining us on a full-time basis in 2023. Tom earned his BA in Technical Theatre and Design from the University of Buffalo.

Kurt Wehmann

About

Kurt has over 18 years of experience in the architectural industry with a focus on performing arts projects. He joined TCC in 2016 after six years with Holzman Moss Bottino Architecture. From 2001 to 2009, he served as a design associate with Sachs Morgan Studio, specializing in theatre seating layouts, sightline analysis, space planning, interior design, code issues, and accessibility solutions. Kurt holds a B.Arch. from the Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Steven Siegmund, a theatrical equipment systems specialist, joined TCC in 2017 following an 11 year tenure with Texas Scenic Company. Prior to Texas Scenic, he was Vice President – Projects of StageLight Inc., where he managed the systems design and installation division of the Houston-based theatrical equipment dealer. In the past, he has worked as a lighting supervisor for Houston’s Alley Theatre and as a master electrician for Playmakers Repertory Theatre at UNC Chapel Hill. Steve received his BFA in design/technical theatre from the University of Connecticut.

Butch brings the unique experience of nearly 25 years managing a variety of performance venues as well as being a former TCC client. He began working in theatre as a student and, upon graduation, stayed on at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill, serving initially as Production Manager and later as Director of Production for the arts-presenting organization on campus. He joined TCC in 2018 as a technical specialist, spearheading the integration of BIM into our documentation process, and now serves as one of our performance systems designers.

Wes joined TCC in 2023 following seven years as a consultant at DLR Group | Westlake Reed Leskosky, where he designed theatrical systems and architectural lighting for performing arts venues, museums, schools, and places of worship across the country. In addition to consulting, he has designed lighting and scenery for regional theatre companies across the Southeast and Midwest. He holds an MFA in Lighting Design from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a BA in Theatre from Wake Forest University.

Verda Beth Martell


About

Beth spent the first 22 years of her career in theatre production and education. In 2016, she took her end-user experience to consulting, participating in the design of over 50 facilities for DLR Group | Westlake, Reed, Leskosky. Beth is an active member of USITT and often works with ESTA presenting training for professionals. She was on the team that developed ANSI E1.42, the standard for Orchestra Pit Lifts. She regularly presents on many topics, most notably The Physics of Theatre, and is the co-author of The Physics of Theatre: Mechanics. She is an ETCP Certified Rigger – Theatre and an ETCP Recognized Trainer.

As TCC’s business manager, Angela ensures financial operations are on track. Prior to joining TCC in 2023, she was a Production Manager for Carolina Performing Arts, where she was responsible for venue management, event production, staff scheduling and training, and budgeting. She is an ETCP Certified Entertainment Electrician, with 17 years (and counting!) of experience as a lighting professional in the Triangle area.
